When we unearthed an antique seed catalogue with the delightful image of an artist’s paint palette dotted with flowers (instead of paint), we were instantly inspired to create this piece! One of the most intricate prints we’ve ever designed, it was made by carefully remixing the original artwork, and layering over 50 different flowers together to create the background. Every single beautiful little flower was taken from vintage 1800’s seed catalogues. The banner on the trim is a lithograph from the same era, and features a quote from the great artist, Claude Monet — who once said he owed becoming a painter to the beauty of flowers. The resulting print is whimsical, artsy, and super cool — with an antique feel that we adore.
100% viscose (derived from plant fibres such as wood and bamboo). Machine wash gentle or handwash and hang to dry. Iron to finish if needed.
Includes removable belt.

Long before we scrolled through online shops or wandered glossy supermarket aisles, seed catalogues were the magical portals of possibility for gardeners and farmers alike. Emerging in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, these catalogues were a charming mix of practicality and artistry. Early editions didn’t just sell seeds—they told stories. Seed companies like Vilmorin-Andrieux in France would describe plants with a romantic flair, turning cabbages into “elegant heads” and carrots into “delightful orange roots.” By the Victorian era, the catalogues themselves had blossomed into works of art, adorned with vibrant hand-drawn illustrations that promised paradise in every seed packet.
For many, these catalogues were more than a guide—they were a window into the future. Dreamers of all kinds dog-eared pages, imagining rows of tulips or fields of corn sprouting in their care. They even became keepsakes, passed down generations like garden heirlooms. Today, flipping through an old seed catalogue is like peering into a time capsule of horticultural dreams, where the promise of spring was only a postage stamp away. -
